Treatment of Neurological and Inflammatory Conditions with Probiotics

Title: Treatment of neurological and inflammatory conditions with probiotics

Unmet Need: Treatment of Neuroinflammatory Conditions

Neuroinflammatory conditions lead to several ailments, including Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), Acute Optic Neuritis (AON), Transverse Myelitis, Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Neuroinflammatory diseases are generally treated with several treatment methodologies include medicinal drugs, however new pharmaceutical free treatment options are needed in addition to traditional treatments. This technology addresses a need for more treatment options for inflammation-based diseases.

The Technology: Novel application for Treatment of Neuroinflammatory Diseases through the Use of Probiotic Microbes

Inventors have developed a novel method of treating neuroinflammatory conditions through probiotic use. Probiotics highlighted in this technology are administered orally to subjects suffering from neuroinflammatory and other inflammatory diseases. The probiotic treatments are used to enact changes in neurotransmitter imbalances. Modified bacteria are upregulated to express beneficial excretions of neurotransmitters, which in turn allow for therapeutic applications. Applications of this technology may be applied to either excess or deficient neurotransmitter diseases.

Applications:

  • Treatment of Neuroinflammatory diseases (MS NMO ADEM)
  • Treatment of Inflammatory diseases (RA, IBD)
  • Treatment of Behavioral Disorders (PTS, ASD)
  • Treatment Autoimmune Disease

Advantages:

  • Probiotic Treatment Method
  • Oral Application of Treatment
  • Broad Therapeutic Applications
  • May be Used as a Food Additive
