Performance Analysis of Power Grid Monitors

Abstract:

WSU has developed and continues to research tools for power grid management by generation and distribution system operators, to increase electrical security, reliability, and resilience.  Power management tools rely on continued accuracy of distributed monitoring equipment.  This invention includes systems and methods to test and analyze accuracy of power grid monitors (e.g., phasor measurement units (PMUs)).  Includes comparison of time-stamped monitor and reference data and capable of operating in various steady state and dynamic grid conditions.

Applications and Advantages:

Automated and lower cost testing of power grid sensor and feedback equipment.

Intellectual Property Protection:

Patent Issued, US 9,910,081
